Our recommendation would be to focus on area vs. specific wineries. This helps cut down on driving and increase consumption time. With 425 wineries in Sonoma (and 400 more in Napa just over the hill), that is a lot of vino to cover. Reservations are recommended.
And if you are looking to book a car or limo for your day, we recommend Grape Escapes: www.grapelimo.com (707) 494-7736.
Alexander Valley
The house is located right in the middle of Alexander Valley so these wineries will be the closest. Here are ones we would visit (and some others):
Jordan Our neighbor so technically the closest. Great cab and chard. www.jordanwinery.com
Stuhlmuller Just down the street - about a 5 minute drive.
Also really good cabs and chard in a cool remote area and in a cool red barn. www.stuhlmullervineyards.com
Ridge Famous for their Monte Bello red blend and zins. www.ridgewine.com
A couple boutique wineries who have great wines, but no tasting rooms.
Father & Son The top winemaker who was with Stryker Sonoma (Tim Hardin) has his own label now. He is also the winemaker for our own Milly Hill. Truly spectacular wine. www.fatherandsonwines.com
Lando Great pinots and chards. Sam Lando was previously with Kosta Browne and has his own label now. A real local treasure. www.landowines.com
Russian River
The Heartland of Pinot. You could spend weeks trying to visit all of the amazing Pinot producers.
Rochioli
The most famous Pinot producer in the area, but still family-owned and down-to-earth. Brilliant wines. www.rochioliwinery.com
